Who can join?
The program is available to a wide range of people - not just scientists. In the program, we feature those who have a background in science, social science, academia or a technical area such as engineering, IT, finance, sanitation, development and many more. Our speakers have given talks on cancer, emojis, toilets, communicable diseases, ecosystems, energy, astronomy, psychology, and many, many, more.
Speakers are from a range of organisations including universities, non-profits, government and the private sector. The demographic is mixed - about 1/3 of participants are not born in Australia and over half are women.
This course is designed for those with experience and also complete newcomers who are interested in upskilling their communications ability. Almost all of the people in our program do not have experience in comedy. Most are not advanced public speakers.
The program does incur a fee. Over 95 per cent of participants obtain workplace funding to cover the fee. Self-funding is also an option.

The program packs in a LOT OF VALUE. It is incomparable compared to other courses, some of which cost over $1,000 for a few hours of training.
This program includes multiple 1:1 sessions, weeks of training and, of course, you’ll star in a major arts festival that would otherwise be impossible to enter.
You’ll have access to specialised expertise from master storytellers and comedians.

The program is designed with a busy working professional in mind.
The eight workshops are largely held as ‘lunch and learns’ so that they don’t eat into your standard work hours or your leisure time on weekend or after work.
Within the program, you will be required to create an 8-minute talk with slides.
The talk will become 10-minutes when we factor in approx. 2-minutes for the audience to react to your talk with cheers and laughs.
For additional information about the program, including when the workshops are held, please fill in the EOI.

No you don’t. You might be surprised to find out that we actually prioritise applicants without experience in science comedy as it’s most exciting for us to work with newcomers.
Our program has a distinct methodology that is simple and easy to follow. It is foolproof – especially for scientists or academics who are used to following clear processes and structures.
We will teach you joke-writing methodologies. Additionally, you will have a lot of written and video resources. Plus, of course, you’ll have facetime with our facilitators and the workshops.
All of the speakers in our YouTube channel are performing their science comedy talks for the very first time!
They followed our methodology and we guarantee success for anyone who follows our science comedy framework. Check out their videos here.
